Item was as advertised. It was solid wood and I bought five of these for my basement. Each bookcase was packaged very well. There was no damage. The instructions read 30 minutes for two people to assemble. The first bookcase took me 49 minutes because I assembled alone. The remaining 4 took me 25 – 30 minutes each. The instructions read to use a phillips screwdriver. I used a cordless drill to speed up the assembly process.

Before I buy, I wanted a shelf depth of more than 12 inches. It says it’s 13-in D. But the video says 11.5-in D.

To those with MCS. I wish I would have looked up more reviews from other sites. The smell is mentioned in a number of reviews elsewhere. In the Q and A section of another site, one answer does state that the finish used has low to medium VOC. I have chemical sensitivities and usually spend a lot of time searching for the safety of a product before buying. I usually buy unfinished wood products to avoid the various varnishes/paints or whatever. This time I just didn’t. I saw the solid wood at a reasonable price, the mention of “eco”, and bought it. The smell wasn’t completely obvious at first till I got it together. Then after about 15min, I could tell it was affecting me. That is really too bad!! because it is a nice piece. It feels solid. It was really easy to put together. Not sure what I’ll do. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for the noxious smell.

This a good-looking, solid bookcase that doesn’t look at all chintzy. I found the instructions very clear, methodical, and it was pretty easy to put together on my own (took me about an hour and a half). I had been looking at small bookcases at various stores and online, liked the looks of this one as well as the price, and was impressed with the quality when I received it. I will look into other items by this manufacturer.

If you want a high quality solid wooden bookshelf for a very good price, this is it. You have to put it together, which is probably why it’s so reasonably priced. It takes a little over an hour, depending on how handy you are.
There’s no MDF in this product. I believe it’s all Pine wood.

This 6-shelf cherry bookcase is beautiful and a good size for our living room. Nice distance between shelves, but not uniformly spaced if you follow the guide like we did (9.5-11.5″). The instructions were easy enough to follow and we didn’t have too much trouble with the assembly (a screwdriver and hammer were the only required tools). The only issues we experienced were that some of the pieces couldn’t quite fit flush and that some of the shelf pegs were hard to insert (a rubber mallet helped, but they will be hard to remove if we want to adjust later). Very pleased overall.

I am so delighted with this inexpensive but quality bookcase. I spent nearly two weeks shopping for a 48-inch by 30-inch x 12-inch cherry bookcase that would complement my Sligh natural cherry wood office suite and this bookcase not only complemented it, it matched almost to a T. The bookcase is solid, sturdy and was easy to assemble despite confusing directions. And the $168 price was considerably less than than the prices on the major online retailers.

Excellent millwork for a unit at this price point, and beautiful cherry stain on real, not manufactured, wood, so the unit is of reasonable weight, not overly heavy. Shipment was complete–no missing items, on time, and with no damage to unit or packaging. Assembled easily with good instructions. Very good sale price. Style is simple and clean. Looks like a more expensive unit.

Ordered the bookcase online but it did not say assembly required. I’m a senior widow with no carpentry skills. Jen 10, in Customer Service listened to my dilemma & I was impressed with her willingness to take the time to assist me. She checked with the computer & then with her boss Claudia to find a solution. They did a fantastic job locating someone to put it together for me. They are keepers and a great asset to your store.

The appearance is fine, but there was an assembly problem because two dowel holes were misplaced. This necessitated a work-around – poor quality control on the part of the manufacturer.

The instructions were simple to follow and everything is clearly marked. The bookshelf is very pretty, however my issue is that the pegs for the shelf don’t fit well into their holes, I had to hammer them in but now I can’t get them out if I wanted to change the placement of the shelves. Also all the holes in the sides to place the pegs cheapens the look of the bookcase.
The backing is very difficult to put onto the shelf, they’re flimsy boards and you have to nail them to the back. You will definitely need two people for this part… I still ended up nailing straight through the top when connecting the backing despite being very careful about placement ): … there are no pre-established holes for the nails so this part was frustrating.

Arrived 5 days after ordered. Basic assembly went well. Color, size, and appearance is as attractive as pictured on website. Fits perfectly in my space and looks nice. I like the fact that it is real pine wood- stained cherry; should be durable for years. Looks very nice in my home. Upon purchase from your website, the description did not indicate that the wood WAS NOT real cherry. I only found out about it after calling customer service at . I am grateful it is NOT particle board, but real wood.

This bookcase is real wood that has a cherry stain finish. It is light weight. The assembly instructions were perfectly simple. Literally, there were 16 screws, 16 dowel pegs, 4 felt pads for the feet, around 34 tack nails for the back, and 8 shelf pegs. One of the shelf pegs was not correctly shaped (someone slacking at work), but I easily corrected it with a grind wheel. I added waterproof wood glue in the dowel peg sides to make it more sturdy. It is beautiful and well engineered. I am pleasantly surprised it is real wood. $138. dollars well spent. I highly recommend this product.
